Today was a great dragonfly day in The Arboretum! All along the west side of Victoria Woods were lots of dragonflies including our first record of a clubtail, the Unicorn Clubtail. We also saw and/or caught American Emerald, Williamson's Emerald, Dot-tailed Whiteface, Four-spotted Skimmer, Twelve-spotted Skimmer, Common Whitetail, Widow Skimmer and a young Meadowhawk species. Most of these were caught by Kyle Horner, our Interpretive Naturalist Intern. We are offering a Dragonfly and Damselfly Workshop on July 11 if you want to learn more about this cool group of insects - check out our workshop page for more details.
