The Office of Open Learning, in collaboration with the Office for Partnerships for Advanced Skills (OPAS) and the Guelph Rotary Club, presents “Visionary Seminar 2004,” a video conference featuring Pamela Wallin, Canada's consul-general in New York, Nov. 8 at the River Run Centre.
Wallin, recipient of the Visionary Award for 2004 from OPAS, will discuss “Canada-U.S. Relations: A View from New York,” at 12:30 p.m. The presentation will be transmitted live via satellite from the University of Toronto and webcast to more than 5,000 participants from 36 university and college campuses in nine provinces.
The free event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes a complimentary lunch. It is open to the public, but advance registration is required by calling the Office of Open Learning at 767-5000 by Nov. 5.
Former prime minister Jean Chrétien appointed Wallin to her present role on June 25, 2002. Prior to that, she had a 25-year career as a journalist.
OPAS is a partnership of all Ontario universities and leading Canadian companies dedicated to advancing the competencies of organizations and individuals.
The OPAS Visionary Seminar Series provides an opportunity for industry to join with university faculty, staff and students to hear the views of a leading visionary, to raise questions and to participate in the discussion.
