Senate wraps up another academic year
At its final meeting of the academic year June 3, Senate was updated on U of G's integrated plan, including the priority investment fund allocations, and heard a presentation on the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities operating budget for 2008/09 and the University's multi-year budget plan for 2008/09 to 2012/13.
Senators approved a number of new academic programs, including a certificate in public policy and administration, a graduate diploma in marketing research, a new major in plant science and a master's program in planning. They also approved Senate committee memberships, a revised template for internal reviews and a new design for the honorary doctorate robes to be worn at convocation.
Senate was informed that a draft revised strategic research plan is expected to be posted shortly and that feedback from the campus community will be solicited.
In other business, Prof. Julia Christensen Hughes, chair of the Department of Business, was appointed U of G's new academic colleague to the Council of Ontario Universities.
