First Newman Award Presented

At its annual awards ceremony Oct. 22, the U of G Faculty Association presented the inaugural Jay Newman Award for Academic Integrity to William Schrank, an internationally renowned fisheries economist who taught at Memorial University of Newfoundland for almost 35 years. Distinguished Professor Awards were presented to Profs. Andrew Bailey, Philosophy, and Jamie Gruman, Hospitality and Tourism Management. Prof. Joanne O’Meara, Physics, received a Special Merit Award. An Academic Librarianship Award was presented to librarian Peggy Pritchard.
