BIG Day 2010: Monday December 6th (12:00-4:00 P.M.)
BIG students and faculty meet for the afternoon to listen to high level speakers, review student posters, and attend the Annual Meeting of the BIG Program. We will have two scientific speakers, Dr. John Younger (U Michigan, Department of Emergency Medicine) and our own (well, we share him with the Physics Dept as StFX) Dr. David Pink. Grad students, I am looking forward to seeing you (and your posters!) there.

The Annual BIG Day is a great opportunity for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, research staff and faculty
members within the BIG program to get together for an afternoon of good science and social interaction. Two BIG
faculty members working in different areas of biophysics each present a 30 minute seminar on their research area,
so that BIG members can gain an appreciation of what others in the biophysics field are doing. This is followed by
the Annual General Meeting of BIG, where the status of the program over the past year is reviewed, issues such as
student financing and scholarships are discussed, and new faculty and student members are welcomed. The BIG
poster session then opens, with poster presentations by graduate students, research staff and faculty, accompanied
by refreshments. This provides important opportunities to discuss interesting science, and also to meet other members
of the BIG program.
