What is anthropometry and how does it work?
Anthropometry literally means “measurement of humans”. It is the study and measurement of human physical dimensions, and includes height, weight, circumferences and skinfold thicknesses.
Anthropometry involves taking multiple circumferences and skinfold thicknesses of the body. Common measurement sites include the abdomen, biceps, triceps and shoulder blade, and can also include the thigh and calf.
Testing conditions
There is nothing special the subject needs to do to prepare for an anthropometric test. During the test, the subject is typically shirtless (women can wear a bra) to allow for easy access to various measurement sites.
Fasting is not required.
How long does an anthropometric test take?
A detailed anthropometric test takes approximately 10 minutes. |
