"Innovation Guelph and CBaSE at the University of Guelph teamed up last night for the first Startup Royale pitch competition.
A total of 15 contestants were given a 2-minute opportunity to pitch their startup idea to a panel of judges in the hopes of being pushed through to the second round, which saw five startups compete and score seed investment. BioDatAlign, Red Tree Robotics, Local Line, Sweet Temptations, and The Custom Tea Company all competed for a piece of the $15,000 prize.
At the end of the night, Redtree Robotics secured the top seed investment of $5,000. Second place, and $4,000 each, was won by both Sweet Temptations and the Custom Tea Company. Local Line won fourth place and $2,500, while BioDatAlign won $1,088."
