Important Notes on Usage and Limitations

  • Emails received for calendar invites is not about the meeting, IT IS THE MEETING.  Therefore these email calendar invites must be received in the invitees mailbox otherwise the meeting will not be placed in their calendar.  Please keep this in mind particularly if you delete calendar invites (including updates) using a mobile device such as a BlackBerry.  If you delete a meeting invitation from your mailbox or any subsequent updates/modifications, it may not show up in your calendar.
  • We strongly suggest you do NOT uncheck the Send Notification Mail box (a new feature) when creating or modifying a meeting because none of the invitees will receive the meeting requests or updates.
  • In some instances when filing or deleting messages, the message list for the source folder may not update properly. While this can lead to confusion, clicking 'Get Mail' will properly refresh the display.
  • If you have a link to a shared calendar that has been deleted, you will experience errors when the cursor hovers over your free/busy indicator when scheduling a meeting. If this occurs, review your shared calendars for any that are no longer valid and delete them.
  • Please read the calendaring best practices guide for further recommendations

Known Issues

As with any complex software package, each release not only brings new features but can also bring new issues. This page tracks the issues that have been encountered by Gryph Mail users.  Workarounds and resolution status will be provided where known.

The next planned upgrade to Gryph Mail will be at least to version 6.0.8p3. The target date has not been set.

  1. Rescheduled Meeting & Attendee Status

Issue:  After rescheduling a meeting, the organizer will still see the attendees as having accepted the meeting regardless of whether they have repsonded to the updated meeting request.

Workaround: No currently known solution. Suggestions are to follow up with key attendees or to cancel and recreate the meeting to 'reset' the atttendee status.

Status: Logged as bug #49881. Resolved in release 7.0.0

  2. Embedding HTML Links when Using Internet Explorer

Issue:  If one pre-selects text when composing a message and then clicks on the 'Insert Link' button. The message text may become garbled or the link improperly embedded.

Workaround: Manually type the hyperlink as a visisble link in mail document  (i.e. www.uoguelph.ca). Alternatively, hyperlinking works properly when using the Firefox browser.

Status: Logged as bug #50165. Target for resolution unknown.

  3. Deleted or Moved Messages Still Shown

Issue:  When selecting 25 or more messages to delete or move, they may still show in the message list after completing the action.

Workaround: Click the 'Get Mail' button to refresh the display.

Status: Logged as bug #50251. Resolved in patch release 6.0.8p3

  4. Text in Meeting Cancellation is Lost

    Issue:
A meeting cancellation that is edited to include explanatory text may not preserve the additional information. Only the standard cancellation message is sent to the meeting attendees.

    Workaround:
Text entered into the cancellation message below the standard is sent to the recipient. Be careful to follow this guideline when sending explanatory text.

Status: Logged as bug #35365. Target for resolution unknown.

  5. "Move to" Behaviour in the Standard Client

Issue:  To move a message to another folder in the standard HTML client, the message selection box must be checked off first. This behaviour has changed from the previous version and is not consistent with behaviour in the advanced client.

Workaround: Be sure to check the message selection box before refiling messages.

Status: Logged as bug #49493. Target for resolution unknown.

  6. Briefcase - Cannot Delete Identically Name Files

Issue: 'Deletion' of a file in the briefcase moves it to the trash. These files are indexed by their names so if there is another document in the briefcase with the same name it cannot be deleted until the original file is deleted from the trash folder.

Workaround: Select the trash folder under the briefcase and select the original file. Right click on the file and select 'Delete'. You will now be able to delete the second document.

Status: Logged as bug #46889. Fixed in Gryph Mail v6.0.8.

*This list will be updated as issues are identified or resolved.
