Smartphone Support Limitations

CCS is only able to support the synchronization of Gryph email, addressbooks and calendar for staff and faculty using the BES service because the mail comes through our servers.

CCS is unable to support devices on BIS, ActiveSync devices or device specific questions because synchronization of email/calendar does not occur through CCS servers, it is through your service provider which we have no control or access to.

Any questions regarding synchronization of BIS and ActiveSync devices or device specific questions should be directed to either your:

  • IT Admin (or Managed Desktops if applicable) or
  • service provider (e.g. Rogers or Bell) 

If you are on the BES service and your BlackBerry is not synchronizing with your Gryph Mail or Calendar, please contact your IT Admin, we will work with them to resolve your issue quickly as possible.

Losing Your Blackberry and wiping the Data

In the event that your Blackberry is lost or stolen, it is possible to have the data on the device erased remotely. This capability applies to Blackberries subscribed to email via the BES service and must be carried out by a service administrator. Contact the service desk at x58888 or send an email to 58888help@uoguelph.ca to begin the process.
