Guests to U of G

Guests can acquire free temporary access to the campus network by obtaining a U of G Guest Access Account. Guests will be given a login ID and password that will provide basic Internet connectivity for web browsing (HTTP/HTTPS) and secure shell (SSH), which works at campus residence network (ResNet) and U of G wireless network  (with SSID: uog-wifi only) for a specified period of time.

eduroam

Students, staff and faculty from other Canadian educational institutions that are members of eduroam can fully utilize the Inter-University Connectivity (eduroam) with credentials from their home institutions, and do not need U of G Guest Access Account.

Acquire a Departmental Guest Access Account

U of G departments, communities and organizations with an ongoing need to grant guest access service to clients can apply for their own organizational accounts on the Guest Access Server by submitting a written request to the CCS Help Centre: 58888help@uoguelph.ca See the "U of G Guest Access Server Sponsor Instruction Manual" at the bottom of this page.

Library Patrons

Library patrons and guests are able to request the U of G Guest Access Account through the Circulation & Interlibrary Services Desk located at the first floor of McLaughlin Library. 

Summer Residence Guests

Guests who are staying in the campus residence during the summer can gain U of G Guest Access Accounts from the residence service desks in Lennox/Addington and East Residence.

Conference Guests

Conference guests should speak to their conference organizers to find out if there are any group arrangements. 

Terms of Use

Guests who gain a U of G Guest Access Account will have to login ResNet or the wireless network and by doing so they are agreeing to abide by the University of Guelph Acceptable Use Policy and Guidelines (AUPG). Guests are responsible for securing and protecting their computers with anti-virus software and the latest Windows updates before they connect to the U of G network. Any computers having a negative impact on the network may be blocked by CCS. 

The U of G Guest Access Account is not a U of G Central Login ID, and cannot be used to access other services, such as Gryphmail, Web Advisor, FRS or D2L.

* Please note that the U of G Guest Access Account will only provide access to the U of G Wireless network with SSID: uog-wifi, and will not provide access to any other wireless networks detected on campus. 

U of G Guest Access Server 

The U of G Guest Access Server is the U of G Guest Access Account management server. Sponsors log in to the U of G Guest Access Server (guestaccess.uoguelph.ca) with CCS provided organizational Login ID and password to generate U of G Guest Access Account credentials and manage them after. The following "U of G Guest Access Server Sponsor Instruction Manual" documentation provides the detailed information on how to create and manage Guest Access Accounts.
