Shell Access

Shell access allows users to connect and execute commands on a remote machine. To access one of U of G's Unix servers, a secure shell (SSH) program is recommended. SSH is a protocol that provides an encrypted method of communication between a client and host over the network.

U of G community can connect to following Unix servers:

1. general.uoguelph.ca for general purpose
2. stats.uoguelph.ca for statistical work

CCS supports the following SSH clients which are free for download:

• PuTTY (recommended)
• Netterm
• Teraterm
