Activating Your Blackberry

Getting Started:

  • Remove BIS Account
If you are currently not on BES but you are receiving your Gryph Mail on your BlackBerry (through BIS), please delete the U of G account before proceeding otherwise you will get duplicate emails.
  • D isable Forwarding & Filters
In order for the activation to occur, a "network" email is sent to your inbox which gets processed automatically. If this email is not sent directly to the inbox (it gets filtered or filed to another folder or forwarded to another email account), the activation will not be successful. So please ensure they are no filters that will move this message and disabled forwarding before activating. You can enable forwarding and filters after the activation.

To activate your device:

Select your model/device from the list below, and follow the directions to set up an Enterprise Account or BlackBerry Enterprise Server account.

Use the activation code provided by CCS (not your central login password)  to activate your device. Please note that the activation code is only valid for a limited time (48 hours by default). If more than 48 hours has passed since your activation code was issued, you may need to request a new activation code.

The BlackBerry smartphone sends an activation email message (Subject: RIM_...) to your email address. Do not move or delete this message. The activation message must arrive in your inbox and not get filtered to another folder or filed as a spam email message. If this happens, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will not see the message and will not begin the enterprise activation process.

Once the enterprise activation process is complete, you will receive the following message on your BlackBerry smartphone: "Activation Complete"

When you see this message, your BlackBerry smartphone should be fully synchronized with your email account, and you should be able to send and receive data immediately.

After Activation:

  • It may take several minutes or even hours to fully synchronize your calendar, address book and inbox depending on server activity.
  • Only the default inbox (Inbox), calendar (Calendar) and address book (Contacts) can be synchronized. You can synchronize other email accounts through BIS but this is not supported by CCS, please contact your service provider or IT Admin.
  • You can only access messages that were received after the BES activation
  • Please read the FAQ before contacting the CCS Help Centre.
