The telephony self-administration service allows you to customize your telephony environment at the University of Guelph. The userID and password required to access the self-administration service is synchronized with the central userID and password. Your userID and password must be associated with the phone(s) you wish to modify before you can access this service. Cisco Unified CM User Options
The Cisco Unified CM User Options allow you to customize a number of telephone settings via the web.
Note: The Cisco Unified CM User Options web page is only assessible from on-campus. If you are off-campus, you will need to establish a VPN session first before accessing the Cisco Unified CM User Options web page.
Forward all calls to a different number
Forward all calls to a different number feature is used to forward any of your extensions to a different number, a feature not currently available on the phone. This feature also allows you to forward more than one extension at a time.
To forward all calls to voice mail:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options web page. From the drop down menu (in the top left corner), select User Options > Device.
- Select the device name from the drop down list.
- Click Line Settings.
- Select the line (extension) from the drop down list.
- In the Incoming Call Forwarding area, select Forward all calls to.
- Click the Voice Mail button.
- Press Save ( in the top left corner).
To forward all calls to another extension:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options web page. From the drop down menu (in the top left corner), select User Options > Device.
- Select the device name from the drop down menu.
- Click Line Settings.
- Select the Line (extension) from the drop down list.
- In the Incoming Call Forwarding area, select Forward all calls to.
- Click This Number button.
- Enter the extension where you want to forward your calls.
- Press Save (in the top left corner).
To cancel forwarding:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options web page. From the drop down menu (in the top left corner), select User Options > Device.
- Select the device name from the drop down menu.
- Click Line Settings.
- Select the Line (extension) from the drop down list.
- In the Incoming Call Forwarding area, select Forward all calls to.
- Click This Number button.
- Enter the extension where you want to forward your calls.
- Press Save (in the top left corner).
Note: The forwarding web page will accept any forwarding destination, unlike the phone, which will inform you of an invalid destination. Once you have forwarded your phone using the Self-Administration pages, check that your phone is forwarded properly by dialing your extension.
Add/Update your Speed Dials
Add/Update your Speed Dials feature allows you to manage the speed dials associated with a particular phone. Speed Dials can be accessed one of two ways, either through Abbreviated Dialing or with a Speed Dial button on your phone.
To add or update a speed dial:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options web page and from the drop down menu (in the top left hand corner) select User Options > Device.
- Select the device name from the drop down list.
- Click Speed Dials.
- Enter the phone number in the first column.
- Enter the description in the second column.
- Leave the third column blank.
- Press Save (in the top left corner).
To remove a speed dial:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options web page and from the drop down menu (in the left corner) select User Options > Device.
- Select the device name from the drop down list.
- Click Speed Dials.
- Highlight the phone number you want to remove.
- Using the keyboard, press delete.
- Highlight the label you want to remove.
- Using the keyboard, press delete.
- Press Save (in the top left corner).
Note: The description is primarily used as a speed dial label on your phone but makes for a handy reference when you print out your speed dial list.
Note: Remember to add a 9 for all local off-campus numbers, eg. 95195551212 and a 91 (or 9011) for all long distance off-campus numbers, eg. 914165551212. Do not include hyphens or brackets. The symbols * and # are valid entries. No pauses are available with speed dials.
Change the Message Waiting Lamp policy for your phone
Change the Message Waiting Lamp policy for your phone feature allows you to change the way your phone triggers the message waiting lamp and/or prompt when you receive voice mail. To change the message waiting lamp policy for your phone:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options web page and select User Options > Device.
- Click Line Settings.
- Select the Line (extension) from the drop down list.
- In the Message Waiting Lamp area, choose from various settings.
- Press Save (in the top left corner).
Note: The system policy for your primary line is "Light and Prompt". The system policy for al other lines is "Prompt".
Note: "Light" refers to the red LED on your handset and "Prompt" refers to the "You Have Voice Mail" status that displays on your phone. The envelope which appears by your extension will always appear when there is voice mail.
Change the Ring Settings for your phone
Change the Ring Settings for your phone feature allows you to change the way each extension on your phone rings when you receive a call. You can set each extension to ring differently when a new call arrives while your phone is not in use (idle). You can also set each extension to ring differently when a new call arrives while you are on the phone (in use).
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options web page. From the drop down menu (in the top left corner), select User Options > Device.
- Select the device name from the drop down list.
- Click Line Settings.
- Select the Line (extension) from the drop down list.
- In the Ring Settings area, select the ring setting you would like to use for each extension on your phone.
- Press Save (in the top left corner).
Note: The default ring setting when the phone is idle is Ring Normally. The default setting when the phone is in use is Beep Only.
Change the Line Text Label for your phone
Change the Line Text Label for your phone feature allows you to change the text that appears beside the line button on your phone. To change the line text label on your phone:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options web page and select User Options > Device.
- Select the device name from the drop down list.
- Click Line Settings.
- Select the Line Text Label area, select the ring setting you would like to use for each extension on your phone.
- Press Save (in the top left corner.
Note: You can change the line text label for every extension except the primary extension. Please contact the MacDesk using our on-line request application to change the line text label for your primary extension.
Note: The line text label overrides the existing extension display. Label with a name and extension if you want to retain the extension number, eg. "Group Line - 51234". In addition, only the last five characters of the text label are usually visible when the phone's display changes during a call.
