ResNet in Family Housing

ResNet service is available to Family Housing residents at 78 College Avenue. The same rules, policies and technical support apply for family housing residents as they do for other residents, with the exception of the subscription information and fees. Subscribe to ResNet

If you would like the ResNet service for your unit in Family Housing, please contact the Family Housing office at 519-824-4120 ext. 52551 to request the service. It may take up to 24 hours between the time your request a connection and when your port will be enabled to provide you with access to ResNet.

Fees

Year round residency and varied move-in/move-out dates for Family Housing residents make it necessary for ResNet fees to differ from the rest of student housing. There will be a one time activation fee of $15 and an ongoing subscription fee of $100.20 per semester. Costs will be pro-rated for residents depending on the date they choose to sign-up for ResNet.

Getting Connected

Once you have been notified that your ResNet port is active you should be able to Connect to ResNet.

Modems and ISPs

If you have a telephone line installed in your unit, you may still use modems to fax and/or connect to an ISP for Internet access.

Port/Ethernet Jack Locations

The location of network ports in Family Housing is dependent on the wiring available for the unit. Ports will be located in either the study nook or the living room, depending on where the appropriate wiring was available.

If a port is already located in a unit, whether in the study nook or in the living room, it may be possible to move the port from one location to the other. The ability to do this will be determined on an individual unit basis and is again dependant on the wiring available within the Family Housing units. There are no guarantees that we can relocate the port. There is a $90 charge for port moves in Family Housing. Clients requesting a port move must contact CCS Help at ext. 58888.
