Steps to Connect
Step 1: Prepare and protect your computer
Install Anti-virus Software
To connect to ResNet you will need an anti-virus software product installed. We highly recommend McAfee VirusScan, offered at 'no cost to you'. If you have different anti-virus software installed it must be on the Cisco NAC Agent compatibility list (for Windows users) in order to meet security requirements. All anti-virus software should be set to automatically apply updates.
Configure your Windows Computer
lf you have a Windows computer, there are a few settings you'll need to configure on your system:
- Ensure your local computer account is an 'administrator'
- Turn on the Windows Firewall
- Apply Windows Updates and set to Automatic
Step 2 - Connect your computer
Use your network cable to plug your computer into the port on the back of the residence IP phone in your room. In multiple occupancy rooms, one person will plug into the phone, and the remaining roommates will plug into a wall port. Some multiple occupancy rooms may not have enough wall ports - a microhub supplied by ResNet will be in the room in this case.
Step 3 - Open an Internet browser
With your computer on, open an Internet browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)
Step 4 - Install the Cisco NAC Agent (Windows Users only)
When prompted, install/start the Cisco NAC Agent (NAC). Windows users will always need NAC running. NAC will ensure your computer has the appropriate anti-virus software installed and that all Windows critical updates have been applied before accessing the network with full privileges. Allow NAC to install the necessary updates that you require.

Step 5 - Login to ResNet
Login with your Central Login ID and password (same as you use for your Gryph Mail account).
Now you are ready to go on ResNet!
