Central File Service
The Central File Service ('CFS') provides file and print services to the university with a focus on facilitating the business and administrative objectives for many diverse organizational units. CFS provides both shared file storage, as well as personal home directories. CFS is built on Microsoft Active Directory, with accounts automatically provisioned within the appropriate organizational unit, allowing local IT administrators to manage their users' access to CFS file and print resources.
CFS storage resources can be remotely accessed through the CFS Web Service page. Since CFS storage is centrally backed up, organizational units can reduce dependency on less reliable storage media such as local hard disks, CDs, USB drives, etc.
Several enhancements to the service are being implemented during the Winter 2010 semester - check out the Upcoming Changes to the CCS CFS service project page.
Sign up with CFS
Department Chairs and IT Administrators are invited to contact CCS to inquire about your department signing up with CFS.
Accessing CFS resources
Your local IT Administrator can help you to access CFS. You will need to 'synchronize' your CFS account password with your Central Login account password. The CCS Change your Password utility is a quick way to do so - simply type your Central Login Account password in each of the three password textboxes.
