Electronic Thesis Submission Process
Electronic submission of theses is now required by the University of Guelph and is fully operational through the Library’s institutional repository, the Atrium. All theses will be published and made available on the World Wide Web through the Atrium which will be harvested and made available through the Library and Archives Canada (LAC) collections database.
The inclusion of electronic thesis submission makes Guelph’s graduate research widely available, in a timely fashion, and ensures that our valuable campus graduate work gets the exposure it deserves. Through this initiative we support Library and Archives Canada's vision of providing access to the academic research of Canadian graduate students and showcasing it around the world. Researchers from around the world will be able to access this work for decades.

Writing Services' Consultant Wins Book Award
Dr. Margaret Hundleby, writing consultant in the Library’s Writing Services, and her colleague Dr. Jo Allen, President of Meredith College, Raleigh, North Carolina, won the Conference on College Composition and Communication's 2012 Technical and Scientific Communication Award in the category of Best Original Collection of Essays in Technical or Scientific Communication. Their award-winning book, Assessment in Technical and Professional Communication, is a collection of essays that demonstrates the valuable role assessment plays in the teaching and practice of technical and professional communication.
As one reviewer has noted, "The Hundleby and Allen collection does a couple of vital things. For the professional and technical communication discipline, it offers a set of starting points for critical dialogue on the role and meaningfulness of assessment that helps demonstrate the field's evolving maturity, as well as its usefulness as either a tool or a model in measuring the successes of other disciplines. For the work of assessment, it offers an exemplary range of assessment approaches for academic programs that are not monitored, or driven, by accreditation requirements. As such, this work represents the depth of conversations that faculty and their administrators can have about where their courses and programs are and where they need to be in the commitment to continuous improvement."
The award was presented at the 2012 Conference on College Composition and Communication in St. Louis, Missouri.
