Communications

The Communications department is charged with finding effective methods of communicating the services and features of the Library, Computing and Communications Services (CCS) and the Office of the CIO to the broader campus community.

In addition to conducting surveys, focus groups and wayfinding sessions with key stakeholders, the Communications department has developed comprehensive communication plans and ongoing action plans for the Library and CCS. The documents can be found under the appropriate heading on the right-hand menu.

Cort Egan, Assistant Director
Cort has over 20 years of senior communications, marketing, sales, customer service and promotions experience with several of Canada’s largest and most successful travel companies. As the Assistant Director of Organizational Services, Cort oversees Communications and Evaluation and Analysis. Cort recently completed his Master of Rhetoric and Communication Design degree from the University of Waterloo. He lives in Hamilton (soon to be Guelph) with his wife Tara and their cat named Star.

Andrea Karpala, Communications Supervisor
Andrea has nine years of communications experience and has held positions including account executive, account manager and digital communications specialist, overseeing some large accounts and highly successful multi-media campaigns within Canada and the United States. Andrea is a graduate of the of the Electronic Critique (Digital Media Studies) program at the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) and she holds a Master of Business Administration from the same institution. Andrea has been an adjunct instructor at UDM and St. Clair College. She has been an invited speaker at both Ryerson University and Humber College on the topic of Social Media. She lives in Milton with her fiancé, Rob.

Lisbeth Sider, Communications Officer
Lisbeth has over 11 years of experience as a Graphic Designer and Communications Officer. She began her career in 1988 when she apprenticed as a goldsmith, later moving into silk screen and airbrush work. Her passion for graphic design led her to return to school as a mature student to pursue Multimedia Production.
In 2008, Lisbeth spent three weeks in Hanoi Vietnam as part of the Leave for Change program, where she worked with the Hoa Sua Vocational School, helping their Communications Department build graphic design skills and redesign their website. She lives in Guelph with her husband Gard and son Ethan and she is currently working towards her degree in Art History here at the University of Guelph.

Katrina Raymundo, Communications Officer, AIESEC Intern
Katrina is a graduate of the Broadcast Communications program at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Katrina has worked as a creative writer for live television shows, where she wrote segments and managed in-studio and online contests. In addition, she worked as the community manager for the show’s social media accounts. As an intern for a highly-rated news channel, she had the opportunity to work with top newscasters and was able to conduct featured interviews. She is originally from the Philippines and will spend 12 months here working as an AIESEC Intern for Organizational Services.
