Proposed IT Policies
Sept.10/10 DDB
The CIO’s Office is collaborating with Computing & Communications Services (CCS) to develop formal policies related to administration of the University’s networking services and infrastructure. The University’s networking infrastructure and messaging services have been identified by the Risk Management Steering Committee (RM-SC) as critical core IT services. The proposed policies are needed to formalize and communicate the mandate of Computing & Communications Services (CCS) regarding the management of the University’s voice/data network infrastructure and associated services.
This initiative continues the process of formalizing existing practices, clarifying accountability and strengthening the guidance and expectations of students, staff, faculty and management. These are essential elements of improving the University’s overall IT security ‘posture’. The new policies will be incorporated into the IT Security Policy Framework that was approved in 2009.
Approval was received from ITSC at their June/2010 meeting for CCS to prepare 'Initial Drafts' of the proposed policies; a copy of the Executive Brief to ITSC is here.
