Notable Achievements

The College of Management and Economics was officially formed on May 1, 2006, and has achieved quite a reputation in both the academic and professional settings. The College is home to more than 3,000 undergraduate students, 196 Masters students, 11 PhD students, 75 faculty members and 28 staff members.

Each academic unit within CME strives for excellence and has been recognized for notable achievements. CME recruits driven students and innovative faculty members who excel and receive special praise on a regular basis. CME was ranked 2nd amongst Canadian business schools in the Corporate Knights survey for our focus on sustainable commerce (amongst mid-sized universities).
CME offers the fourth largest Bachelor of Commerce program in Ontario, including a unique focus area in real estate and housing – only one of two undergraduate programs in Canada.
The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, and is ranked 21st in the world and 1st in Canada for research output.
The College recently launched The Co-operators Centre for Business and Social Entrepreneurship (CBaSE), which facilitates community engagement, learning and research opportunities.
CME students competed in the OCE new product competition and placed first amongst 350 teams from across Ontario.
A Hospitality and Tourism Management student contributed to winning team for a creativity challenge at the Young Hoteliers Summit in Lausanne, Switzerland.
CME secured more than $2 million in research support with significant increases in SSHRC and OMAFRA funding. 
Dean Julia Christensen Hughes released Taking Stock: Research on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, a book that calls for improvements in teaching quality in postsecondary education.
Gavin Armstrong, B. Comm. (Marketing and Consumer Studies) was the first Canadian to be honored with the 2011 President William Jefferson Clinton Hunger Leadership Award
