Students donate to hear about bears, biffies and B.O.

Shoshanah Jacobs was 300 metres away from the field camp and still inside the biffy when she spotted a polar bear only 10 metres away. “The biffy was quite small, so when I stood up to zip my pants, I had to stick my head out the window slightly, and there she was on the tundra. She looked fierce, and she looked at me.”

Congratulations to one of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition's doctoral candidates, Kimberley Wilson! On October 17th she accepted an Honourable Mention award from the Mental Health Commission of Canada in the Partnership category. Kim did so on behalf of the Canadian Coalition for Seniors' Mental Health (CCSMH). It is recognition for the creation and implementation of The National uidelines for Seniors' Mental Health.  Kimberley is the Executive Director of CCSMH.

Older drivers face different challenges as they age.

If you worry about those wild teen drivers on the road, you may have good reasons for your concern: car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens 16 to 19. But U of G psychology professor Lana Trick is working with a network of other researchers to find ways to reduce those risks.
