Animal Welfare Centres, Foundations and Clubs

Animal Welfare Centres, Foundations and Clubs play a number of roles in promoting animal welfare. These roles include conducting research toward the improvement of animal life, providing outreach and education services, leading discussion forums, and ultimately working for progression.

Humane Organizations

Humane organizations are dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for all animals. Their work includes community education services, adoptions, spay-neuter programs to prevent pet overpopulation, cruelty investigations, and enforcement of animal protection legislation.


Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada provides information, research and technology, and policies and programs to achieve security of the food system, health of the environment and innovation for growth. The National Farm Animal Care Council, in cooperation with the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies, has updated and developed internationally respected codes of practice and factsheets for the care and handling of farm animals.

Producer Organizations - Ontario

Producer Organizations represent the various animal production sectors. They provide leadership to producers, and are actively involved in marketing and increasing awareness of the industry.

Canadian Farm Animal Council Offices

Canadian Farm Animal Council offices represent the livestock industry and serve to promote responsible animal care. They share the main goal of raising producer awareness on animal welfare issues and educating the public on various care and management practices in agriculture.
