Common Names: termites, white ants
Distribution: Cosmopolitan, mostly tropical and subtropical

Termites are generally pale in color and have antennae that look like small beads in a string. Despite the common name "white ant", they are not related to ants and lack the strong constriction ("wasp waist") that characterizes ants and other Hymenoptera.
