Tropical and warm temperate regions.
Description
Zorapterans
are tiny (less than 3mm), rarely encountered insects. The two North American
species are restricted to the southeast where they are sometimes found
in rotting wood. Winged forms (which shed their wings) are dark; wingless
forms are pale. They look a bit like small termites, but with two segmented
tarsi; wingless forms lack eyes and ocelli.
