| Past Years |
| It all started in May 1997
when two professors and a group of southern Ontario university students
piled gear and equipment into two minivans and a camper van and headed
for the border. Their destination? Mountain Lake Biological
Station, Pembroke, Virginia, USA. For 12 days this group of entomologists
collected insects, did projects and saw the sites.
It was such a great experience that this course was held in 1998 and 1999, again at Mountain Lake. In 2001 the course will be again be held at Mountain Lake, but we are looking at other localities for alternate years starting in 2002. Why was this so successful? In part it was due to the instructors, the station director and the great facilities, but most of the credit goes to the students who decided to take this course. It was their enthusiasm and energy that made this course a fun learning experience for everyone involved. |
