Stephen Kosempel joined the Department of Economics in 1999. He received a B.A.(Hons) in Economics from Queen's University(1993), an M.A. in Economics from the University of Victoria (1995) and a Ph.D. in Economics from Simon Fraser University (1999).

His work has been published in journals including the Journal of Development Economics, Canadian Journal of Economics, Economics Bulletin, Economics of Innovation and Technology, and the Journal of Economics and Business.
