Open Access Panel Discussion
U of G hosts “Guelph Voices of Access,” a panel discussion featuring scholars and community members talking about the global movement of making research findings free and open. The event is part of International Open Access Week Oct. 18 to 24.
Panellists will discuss how and why having free online access to peer-reviewed scientific information and discoveries benefits communities and society as a whole.
Participants are Mike Ridley, U of G’s chief information officer and chief librarian; Prof. Beverley Hale, associate dean of the Ontario Agricultural College; English professor Ajay Heble, artistic director of the Guelph Jazz Festival and project director of the national Improvisation, Community and Social Practice project; Sarah Hook, a PhD student in animal and poultry science; and Sarah Haanstra, social planning director for the United Way.
There will also be audience discussion/questions and refreshments. Space is limited. To register or for more information, send email to researchshop@uoguelph.ca.
