Co-operative education will be celebrated across Canada from March 19 to 23. For more than 50 years, co-operative education has been a successful resource for both students and employers across the country.
This year, the University of Guelph’s Co-operative Education and Career Services (CECS) will be celebrating 30 years of success. Since 1981, CECS has been providing career guidance through programs and services to help students achieve their career potential.
A special 30th anniversary celebration will take place in the University Centre courtyard on March 20 at 12:30 p.m.
During National Co-op Week, the University of Guelph will also be recognizing the outstanding achievements of our co-op students and employers over the past year.
On March 22, the 2011 Co-op Awards will take place at Cutten Fields. This year’s award winners are:
• Christina Lippa - (Bachelor of Commerce, Marketing Management) Co-op Student of the Year 2011 Award: Commerce & Social and Applied Human Sciences
• Lauren Patrick - (Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) Co-op Student of the Year 2011 Award: Science & Engineering
• Alannah McGregor - (Bachelor of Arts, Psychology) Collin Cureatz Memorial Award for Co-op Student Involvement
• The National Microbiology Laboratory - Public Health Agency of Canada: Co-op Employer of the Year 2011
All nominees and award winners will be recognized during the awards reception. This year we will also be acknowledging and celebrating graduating co-op students at the reception.
