Position Description:

Applications are sought from tenured faculty at the University of Guelph for the position of Associate Dean (Academic).  The position carries 60% release time from the incumbent’s department.  The initial appointment will be for five years, and is renewable once.  The preferred start date is May 1, 2010.

 

The primary role of the Associate Dean (Academic) is to co-ordinate the management of undergraduate programs in the College and provides leadership for curriculum innovation.   Specifically, the Associate Dean (Academic) will share responsibility for the oversight and governance of the programs sponsored by the College.

 

The Associate Dean (Academic) will take a lead role in matters related to liaison and student recruitment, assist the Dean in the monitoring of teaching assignments, represent the College on committees and task forces related to curriculum, deal with academic misconduct cases in undergraduate programs, act as Dean on occasion, and take up other duties as required.

 

Applicants should have significant experience in academic management, especially in the leadership of curriculum change, and be committed to a learner-centered approach to education.  Inquiries and applications should be directed to:
