The College of Management and Economics of the University of Guelph invites applications, nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Associate Dean, Research & Graduate Studies.
The University of Guelph has achieved prominence in Canada and around the world as a research-intensive and learner-centred university. Approximately 16,200 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students attend the University of Guelph to pursue 11 undergraduate and 45 graduate degree programs housed within its seven colleges. With 800 full-time faculty and approximately 2,000 full-time staff, Guelph’s annual operating budget exceeds $500 million.
Created in 2006, the College of Management and Economics (CME) is the newest college at the University of Guelph, providing a high-quality research, learning and social environment that encourages reflection, curiosity and global awareness, and promoting comprehensive understanding of both traditional and emerging themes in management, economics and related areas. Comprising four academic units – Business, Economics, Marketing and Consumer Studies, and the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management – CME offers a range of well-respected undergraduate and graduate programs in commerce, economics, management and leadership, including an MBA, MA and MSc, a longstanding and highly successful PhD in Economics and a new PhD in Management, as well as a range of co-op options. The Associate Dean, Research & Graduate Studies will provide leadership in raising CME’s research profile, developing research centres and identifying and facilitating areas of graduate growth and enhancement throughout the College. He/she will be a key College liaison with the University’s Assistant Vice-President (Academic)/Dean of Graduate Studies and Vice-President Research.
Ideal candidates for this position will be dynamic, innovative and possess an excellent scholarly and professional record in research and graduate programs. Candidates will demonstrate an open and collegial style; outstanding management, communication and interpersonal skills; a creative approach to problem solving; the ability to inspire and support graduate students, faculty and staff; the capacity to build and sustain positive relationships with all constituents; and a commitment to fostering “Research that Counts” through knowledge creation, translation and transfer and leading the future research and graduate growth of the College.
