Position Description:

The picturesque Kemptville Campus of the University of Guelph is situated about 35 minutes south-west of Ottawa. Kemptville campus is an academic, research and service unit within the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) of the University. It has about 235 undergraduate degree and diploma students, and provides 18,000+ student training days annually for certificate and other short program training. The campus has residence space for 260 students. There are 4 University of Guelph faculty, more than 25 College Professors, 39 regular staff and about 60 temporary staff and student positions. Annual expenditures total $13.3 million in 2008/09, across all academic, research, service, and business development centre activities. Reporting to the OAC Dean, the Director is responsible for providing vision and direction for all activities at the main campus of Kemptville and the other research station locations including: administrative expertise, leadership and supervision, balancing all annual budgets, working in close coordination with the Alfred Campus Director to execute the OAC vision for Eastern Ontario, implementing strategically identified initiatives to enhance the quality of the research and teaching at the campus, and to grow the business as opportunities arise. This position will be of interest to an individual willing to address the challenge of continuing the development of a campus slated for transformation and growth. 

 

Requirements of the position include: at minimum a Master’s degree with significant post-secondary institution management experience, combined with experience in all facets of the teaching and research enterprise, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements include: demonstrated fluency in both English and French; good knowledge of the Ontario provincial education sector; excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven business and financial planning, including human resources and strategic management, fundraising and project management.
