Position Description:

The Department of Geography at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position in Human – Environment Relations and Governance at the Assistant Professor level.  Applicants should have a strong social science background and possess expertise that contributes to teaching and research in the Department’s Resources and Environment stream and supports, in particular, the emergence of environmental governance as a core theme in the undergraduate and graduate teaching programs.  Contributions are sought in one or more of the following areas: environmental governance, human adaptation to environmental change, social vulnerability analysis, environmental conservation and development and the study of emerging approaches to environmentalism. The successful candidate must have a PhD in Geography or a related discipline, a record of scholarly research, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. The appointee will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, advise graduate students, and develop a strong, externally funded research program. The position will commence July 1, 2010.
