Description: |
The Department of Population Medicine, Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position for a Theriogenologist. Applicants will have a DVM or equivalent degree and will be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Ontario. Graduate training in Theriogenology, Reproductive Biology or a related field and Board Certification by the American College of Theriogenology are required. Candidates who are eligible to sit the board examinations may be considered. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in research related to equine theriogenology. A primary responsibility will be to develop both independent and collaborative research programs and generate research funds to support graduate student training to the MSc and DVSc levels. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in the DVM program, and will deliver clinical services within the veterinary teaching hospital. Clinical service and teaching will require demonstrated expertise in equine theriogenology, since the in-house large animal caseload is predominantly equine based. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and willingness to fulfill both teaching and clinical theriogenology duties in multiple species. The successful candidate will participate in providing after-hours emergency hour’s referral service in Theriogenology from January to June.
The Department of Population Medicine is home to a diverse team of faculty members working in theriogenology, equine and farm animal health management, public health, applied animal behaviour, and ecosystem health. There are currently two board certified Theriogenologist on faculty and two DVSc students and one staff veterinarian working in the discipline.
