Position Description:

 

The Department of Population Medicine, Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in Veterinary Primary Healthcare Education at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Applicants should have a DVM and training to the PhD, EdD, or equivalent level in veterinary education or a related field or a combination of a Master’s degree in education plus relevant teaching experience in primary healthcare.  Preference will be given to candidates with clinical veterinary experience and previous experience teaching professional students in veterinary medicine. Effective communication skills and a collegial attitude that will support involvement and collaboration in teaching and research are required.


A primary responsibility will be to develop a research program in veterinary education, with a focus on primary healthcare, and to acquire research funds to support graduate student training to the Master’s and PhD levels. The incumbent will actively participate in the integration of current, and the development of new, learning outcomes within the veterinary curriculum. He or she will be expected to develop and implement evidence-based assessment, feedback, and teaching methodologies for adult learners. The successful candidate will coordinate and facilitate the teaching of companion animal primary healthcare in all four years of the professional veterinary program.


The Department of Population Medicine (http://www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/popm/) is home to a diverse team of faculty members working in veterinary epidemiology, veterinary communications, the human-animal bond, farm animal and equine health management, food safety, public health, applied animal behavior, theriogenology, and ecosystem approaches to health.
