Position Description:



The Department of Clinical Studies, Ontario Veterinary College (OVC), is seeking applications to fill a 13-month Contractually Limited faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Large-Animal Surgery.

Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree, must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Ontario, and should be a Diplomate of the American or European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS or ECVS).

The successful candidate will work with 2 other board-certified Large-Animal Surgery faculty to provide laboratory and clinical instruction in large-animal surgery to veterinary students, interns, residents and graduate students.  Service activities will include the management of patients and consultation in the Ontario Veterinary College Health Science Center (OVC HSC), including out-of-hours duties.  Case distribution is approximately 80% equine, 15% bovine, and 5% small ruminants, camelids and pot-bellied pigs.

The OVC HSC offers state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment (e.g. CT, digital radiography, 1.5-Tesla high-field MRI, scintigraphy, ultrasonography & dynamic video-endoscopy) and surgical equipment (e.g. CO2 & diode lasers, focused shock wave & laparoscopy).  The faculty and staff of the Department of Clinical Studies and the OVC HSC are committed to delivering the very best of patient care.
