Position Description:


The University of Guelph, Kemptville Campus is seeking applications to fill a 2-year contractually-limited position as a Campus Veterinarian at the Assistant Veterinarian rank.  The Kemptville Campus is situated approximately 40 km south of Ottawa.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of theoretical and practical courses, both at the undergraduate and diploma level, in animal health management, nutrition, anatomy and physiology. The Campus Veterinarian will also be responsible for the general health and veterinary care of the campus large animal colony. As a member of the Animal Care Committee, the Campus Veterinarian will participate in developing and maintaining procedures and protocols regarding the use of animal for education and research purposes. 


Candidates require a DV M qualification, must be licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario and have at least three years of recent clinical experience with a preference in large animals. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to be a highly-effective teacher.  Successful candidates will demonstrate: excellent knowledge of clinical and laboratory techniques; a sound knowledge of post-secondary education requirements; commitment to the effective and safe utilization of animals on campus; proven initiative and leadership abilities; team building skills with the ability to motivate and develop positive working relationships with students, co-workers and managers; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
