Position Description:

The Department of Clinical Studies, Ontario Veterinary College (OVC), is seeking applications to fill a three-year (36 month) contractually limited 50% appointment faculty position in Large Animal Surgery at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) and be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Ontario.  Preference will be given to Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). Applications may also be considered from candidates who are Diplomates of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) or who have completed an ACVS or ECVS approved residency training program.

The ideal candidate should have strong skills in the clinical practice of large animal surgery and lameness and outstanding teaching and communication skills. The successful candidate will work with 3 other board certified Large Animal Surgery faculty to provide laboratory and clinical instruction in large animal surgery to veterinary students, interns, residents and graduate students. Approximately 80% effort will be dedicated to clinical teaching activities, which include the management of large animal patients, and laboratory and didactic instruction. The remaining time is to be spent on scholarly and service activities.

The OVC Health Sciences Center offers state of the art diagnostic equipment including but not limited to a 1.5 Tesla high field General Electric MRI, CT, and scintigraphy. The faculty and staff of the Department of Clinical Studies and the OVC Health Sciences Center are committed to delivering the very best of patient care.
