Deadline: March 20, 2017
Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Chair in the Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition. The appointment as Chair will be for five years, effective July 1, 2017, and is renewable for a second term of up to five years.
Candidates must be tenured faculty members in the Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition and should have a substantial understanding of the department and the disciplinary sub-fields or ‘areas’ that comprise the teaching and research programs. The Chair will be expected to maintain and communicate a sense of direction; support individual members of the department through mentoring and facilitation; to act as a responsible advocate for the department; to encourage collegiality and respect for a range of career paths and different forms and fields of scholarship; to foster values of fairness, excellence and collaboration; and to maintain a sense of pride, achievement and community among all members (students, staff and faculty) of the department. The Chair has overall responsibility that Department practices and processes are formulated, promulgated and followed, that resources are properly allocated, and that college and university policies and procedures are followed.
Inquiries, applications and nominations should be directed to Gwen Chapman Dean, College of Social and Applied Human Sciences (email@example.com), the chair of the search committee. Applications must be submitted by noon, Monday, March 20, 2017, and include a curriculum vitae and a brief (2-3 page) self-assessment of the skills and experience that they would bring to the position.
