Position Description:
The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the following area:
Molecular basis of disease - Individuals with a research focus on cell signalling and/or gene regulation using relevant mammalian model systems are of particular interest.
Qualifications include a Ph.D., a preferred minimum of two years of relevant post-doctoral experience, a proven record of research excellence evident in high-quality publications, and demonstrated potential to establish a competitive independent research program and secure research funding. Applicants must also demonstrate a commitment to, and evidence of, effective and innovative teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
The successful candidates will join a dynamic multidisciplinary department with 40 faculty members who study diverse biological systems at levels from molecules to cells. We are seeking individuals who will complement and enhance ongoing research endeavours in the Department. The Department has primary responsibility for undergraduate programs in Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology & Genetics, and contributes to the delivery of others including Biological Science, Biomedical Science and Plant Science. Graduate training activities are focused on a program offering M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Molecular and Cellular Biology but faculty members also participate in cross-department programs such as Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Neuroscience and Toxicology. The successful applicants will be expected to develop a creative and independent research program sustained by external funding from national/provincial agencies, and contribute to graduate and undergraduate training.
