Position Description:

The Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, effective July 1, 2018. The Department will consider strong candidates with research and teaching expertise in any of the core areas of finance. Candidates will hold, or will have nearly completed, a Ph.D. in finance or a PhD in economics with an emphasis in finance, with the requirement that they be able to demonstrate that they will establish themselves as recognized scholars, producing internationally recognized research, and be good teachers at all levels.

The Department of Economics and Finance is a research-intensive unit with 26 faculty members. The Department offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs leading to the degrees BA, BComm, MA and PhD. All programs offered by the Department provide students with an opportunity to specialize in finance. More information about the Department can be found at https://www.uoguelph.ca/economics/.

Applicants should indicate on their cover letter if they will be attending the CEEE meeting in Toronto on December 8-9, 2017, and/or the AEA-AFA meeting in Philadelphia on January 5-7, 2018. The Department is an integral part of the College of Business and Economics (Guelph’s Business School). Formed in 2006, the College of Business and Economics is the youngest college at the University of Guelph, but delivers one of the largest undergraduate business programs in Ontario with over 3,800 students currently enrolled. Our College provides a learning environment that encourages critical reflection, personal growth, and promotes traditional and emerging themes of management and economics. We offer a wide range of specialized programs in business and economics across undergraduate, graduate, and professional education.
