Position Description:

The Department of Political Science at the University of Guelph seeks an applicant with research and teaching interests in the area of Law and Politics for a 3-year Contract Limited Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.  The Department will consider scholars focused on national, international, or comparative dimensions of law and politics and would consider it an asset if the candidate had expertise in areas related to criminal justice policy, judicial process or constitutionalism.  The department of Political Science contributes to the highly successful Criminal Justice and Public Policy program, one of the largest undergraduate programs in the university.  It also participates in the graduate MA program in Criminology and Criminal Justice Policy. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in both the Political Science and Criminal Justice programs and may be asked to teach one or more of the following courses: POLS*3130 : “Law, Politics and the Judicial Process”, POLS*3140 : “The Charter of Rights and Freedoms”, POLS*3300, “Governing Criminal Justice”, and POLS*3210, “The Constitution and Canadian Federalism”.
 
The deadline for applying for this competition is April 27, 2018, and the position is subject to budgetary approval. The successful candidate will commence their duties August 1, 2018.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Political Science, or an equivalent degree from a related discipline such as law, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a strong record of scholarship appropriate to an entry-level faculty position.
