Position Description:

The Ontario Veterinary College Smith Lane Animal Hospital is seeking applications to fill a 1-year (renewable) contractually limited veterinarian position.

Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree, must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Ontario, and have either Diplomate status with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) in Canine and Feline Practice or have 5 or more years of experience working in a companion animal hospital.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background and interest in providing all aspects of preventative healthcare and general medicine and surgery for companion animals, with experience and interest in dentistry. They should be able to document their previous performance in providing outstanding service delivery and patient care. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess experience creating and assessing the outcomes of learning opportunities for adult learners. The successful candidate will work with the healthcare delivery team within the OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital in providing outstanding client and patient care, while meeting and exceeding defined metrics for practice performance. They will demonstrate a desire to obtain and apply the most current knowledge and skills in companion animal primary healthcare. They will create and assess experiential learning opportunities for student veterinarians (years 1-4), who will be respected members of the OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital healthcare team.

This is a full-time appointment (40 hrs. per week) providing clinical service and reporting to the Associate Dean Clinical Program, OVC HSC. The successful candidate will be required to work occasional weekends and evenings shared equally with the other veterinarians. There is no on call duty required.

The successful candidate must be a team player who will work closely with the Smith Lane Animal Hospital team to ensure the best care possible for our patients and deliver outstanding client service.
