The Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level.
Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, a research and teaching-intensive department at the University of Guelph, invites applications for a tenure–track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Nutrition.
The Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences seeks a collaborative colleague committed to our vision of the maintenance of health through lifestyle research and preventative medicine. The successful candidate will have a PhD in the field of Nutrition, postdoctoral research and/or Faculty experience, and the ability to maintain a productive research program in the area of molecular nutrition: the effect of nutrients and foods/food components on whole body physiology and health status at a molecular and cellular level. The successful candidate will be expected to lead a basic research program in molecular nutrition, attract tri-council research funding, and maintain a productive research program that includes the training of graduate students and other highly qualified personnel. The ideal new Faculty member will have the breadth of expertise to teach broadly in the area of nutrition, including nutrigenomics, metabolism, micronutrients and nutritional toxicology. The new Faculty member will teach two undergraduate courses that could include courses in the BASc degree program in Kinesiology at the University of Guelph-Humber and undergraduate courses that would service the Honours BSc students in the programs within the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph. There would also be a contribution to graduate teaching.
The Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences offers undergraduate Honours B.Sc. programs in Human Kinetics, Biomedical Sciences, and Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences that have a total enrolment of ~1600 students at the University of Guelph and an undergraduate BASc program in Kinesiology at the University of Guelph-Humber (~500 students). The Department also has a vibrant graduate program with an enrolment of ~110-120 graduate students each year.
