Position Description:

The Department of Population Medicine, Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Ruminant Health Management.

Applicants will have a DVM or equivalent degree and will be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Ontario. A post-graduate degree, at the doctoral level (PhD, DVSc or equivalent) in ruminant health management, epidemiology, or a related field is required. Teaching experience with ruminants and specifically with practical and applied bovine reproduction is required. In addition, both demonstrated clinical practice experience and evidence of applied ruminant research are required. Clinical and research experience with dairy cattle, in particular, would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will contribute to ruminant-related teaching in multiple years (Phases) of the DVM program, including final year DVM clinical teaching. Duties will include delivering clinical services within the Ruminant Field Service ambulatory clinic of the OVC Health Sciences Centre. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience to provide clinical and didactic teaching in ruminant health management (dairy and beef cattle, sheep and goats) and in practical and applied bovine theriogenology. The successful candidate will participate in after-hours emergency service for the Ruminant Field Service. S/he will have demonstrated productivity or strong potential in research related to ruminant health management or a related field. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a productive independent and collaborative research program in an area of ruminant health management and to generate research funds to support graduate student training to the MSc, PhD and/or DVSc levels.
