The Department of Clinical Studies, Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph invites applications for a 26-month contractually limited position at the Assistant Professor level in Neurology.
Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree, must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Ontario. Preference will be given to individuals who are Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Neurology (ACVIM Neurology) or European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN), however, applications from candidates who are eligible for the ACVIM Neurology or ECVN certification examination will be considered.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in medical and surgical neurology and outstanding teaching, interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere is essential. The successful candidate will provide didactic and clinical instruction in neurology to DVM students, interns, residents and graduate students. The OVC Neurology service includes 2 board-certified faculty, 3 residents, a neurology intern, and a dedicated neurology technician. The successful candidate will have approximately 80% effort dedicated to clinical service activities in the OVC Health Sciences Center, which include providing neurology case management and case-based teaching in the large and companion animal clinics including out-of-hours emergency duty equitable with other members of the section. The remaining effort is to be spent on scholarly activity.
The OVC Health Sciences Centre (OVC HSC) and research laboratories in the Department of Clinical Studies offers state of the art diagnostic equipment including but not limited to 1.5 Tesla high field GE MRI, 16-slice CT, digital radiology, PACS system, electrophysiologic data acquisition system, scintigraphy, linear accelerator, and a 24/7 fully staffed Intensive Care Unit with ventilatory support capabilities. The faculty and staff of the Department of Clinical Studies and the OVC-HSC are committed to delivering the very best of patient care.
