Position Description:

The Department of Psychology at the University of Guelph is seeking applications to fill a part-time, 51% workload, contractually-limited faculty position (up to 4.5 years) at the rank of Assistant Professor. The distribution of effort is 75% Teaching, 15% Service, 10% Research. The position is based in the Centre for Psychological Services (CPS), within the Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (CCAP) Program. Reporting to both the Chair of the Department of Psychology, and the Director of the CPS, the faculty is responsible for teaching, primarily in the form of clinical supervision of therapy and assessment for Masters and Ph.D. level students, including live supervision, reviewing of session videos, and regular face-to-face supervision meetings. The faculty will provide regular written evaluations of student performance to the Director, CPS and the Director of Clinical Training (DCT); review, provide feedback on, and sign students’ clinical notes and reports; participate in team intakes and clinic administrative meetings. Given the distribution of effort, the incumbent will play a University service role engaging with the broader CCAP area, participate in clinical training curricular development and implementation, and contribute to ongoing clinical research in the Department of Psychology.

The CPS is an essential component of graduate student training within the MA/PhD program in clinical child and adolescent psychology. Our CPA accredited program stresses a developmental approach to clinical psychology and provides high-quality, supervised training of assessment and therapy. The CPS provides a setting for students’ practicum training while providing professional assessments and therapeutic interventions for children, adolescents and families in the Guelph community.

Requirements of the position include: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited program as well as registration with the Ontario College of Psychologists, authorized to practice with children and adolescents (supervised practice applicants may be considered). The candidate is a doctoral level clinical psychologist with experience carrying out assessment and therapy with children, adolescents and families presenting with a range of internalizing, externalizing and neurodevelopmental disorders. Previous experience and a passion for providing clinical supervision to psychology practicum students is required.
