Degree Programs
The Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition offers Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) undergraduate degrees in three focused disciplines:
1. Adult Development
- Also available in Co-op
- The study of adult development and aging within the perspective of the family and society
- Social policy towards administrative work in a adult/senior setting
- Theory is complemented with a community placement in your thrid year
- Careers in a variety of settings serving the adult and senior population
2. Applied Human Nutrition
- Program accredited by Dietitians of Canada
- Curriculum leads to eligibility to apply for a dietetic internship
- Nutrition education and counselling
- Biological and social facets of human nutrition
- Nutrition throughout the lifespan
- Clinical nutrition and assessment
3. Child, Youth and Family
- Also available in Co-op
- Interact with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in our specially designed lab school or in a community setting with youth
- Study the factors and changes that affect children and youth as individuals, and families as a whole
- Two field placement courses give you hands-on experience
- Careers in a variety of children's and youth services, human service/social service agencies
- New research around the work/family balance through the Centre for Families, Work and Well-Being
