The Food Safety Network is hosted at the University of Guelph. This enables FSN staff to connect with experts in various departments on topics that relate to the science and safety of food.

Brita Ball, PhD, Food Safety Network Coordinator, Food Science, University of Guelph
Brita's recent PhD research focused on the implementation of food safety management systems in the food processing sector, looking at how factors such as the food safety culture and production systems influence employees. This work built on her graduate degrees in food safety and quality assurance and rural extension studies, undergraduate degrees in food science and philosophy, and extensive work experience.

Seena Chellakudam, M.Sc.(FSQA), Food Science, University of Guelph
Seena completed a B.Sc. at the University of Waterloo. She has held several positions in the food industry with multinational corporations. Her projects were communicating food safety and health information, and developing a dictionary of food additives.
Tania John, M.Sc.(FSQA), Food Science, University of Guelph
Tania has worked for several years in the natural health product industry doing product licensing and quality assurance. She has an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences from the University of Guelph. During her graduate program, she focused on developing a better understanding of her role in quality assurance as well as the safety issues pertaining to functional foods and nutraceuticals
Pooneh Piri, M.Sc.(FSQA), Food Science, University of Guelph
Pooneh Piri has a M.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from University of Tehran, Iran. Prior to coming to the university, Pooneh was a researcher and project manager for an agricultural research institution in Iran. Pooneh is interested in HACCP programs and quality control.
