Gender equity at the University of Guelph

Excellence. Equity. Diversity. They’re fundamental to supporting a strong University poised to improve life.
GenEQ, an initiative to advance the status of women* at the University of Guelph, will help us:

  • understand the barriers to women's equity on campus
  • support women's equity in leadership roles across the University
  • advance the status of all women on our campuses and beyond.

This initiative needs insight and support from all University community members. Together, we can create real and lasting change to improve life for everyone at the University of Guelph.

We are all responsible for improving gender equity.

Being a University that values inclusivity means acknowledging the importance of diversity among us.

It means understanding that some individuals and groups in our community face barriers to education, employment and full participation in our society. It means addressing systemic challenges affecting our institution so we can reach our full potential as a leader in higher education.

Support
This multi-phase initiative is supported by all levels of senior leadership. It is a priority under the portfolio of Charlotte Yates, President & Vice-Chancellor.

* The GenEQ Advisory Group use an inclusive definition of women that encompasses cisgender, transgender, intersex, and genderqueer women and encourage participation from individuals who are Two Spirit and/or gender nonconforming (e.g., non-binary, agender, bigender, and gender fluid).
