Our research will identify various climatic, topographic, and biophysical factors related to wildfire ignition, fuel potential, and spread potential to develop a GIS based Multi-Criteria Evaluation Model (MCE) for the prediction of wildfire. This model will then be applied to the WBNP to predict areas at high risk of wildfire.
Objective 1. Identify risk factors for wildfire ignition, fuel potential, and spread potential
Objective 2. Develop a GIS-based multi-criteria evaluation model of wildfire risk prediction
Objective 3. Apply the model to predict high risk wildfire zones in the Wood Buffalo National Park
Objective 4. Evaluate the strengths and limitations of the GIS-based wildfire risk model
